Weekend Respite Care
The weekend respite care service at the Notre-Dame-de-Fatima Centre provides essential support to families caring for a loved one with special needs, offering them meaningful rest while ensuring the well-being of their child, teen, or adult. Offered from September to June, these adapted overnight stays are designed for participants with hearing impairments, language disorders, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or multiple disabilities.
Participants enjoy an inclusive and enriching camp experience where our activities promote play, discovery, socialization, autonomy, and engagement in sports, arts, and outdoor activities.
Registration for spring respite sessions opens in march.

Registration Process
Before reserving a spot for your child, an intake process and needs-assessment meeting are required. These steps determine the appropriate supervision ratio based on each camper’s needs.
Release of respite calendars and registration periods:
- March → Spring respite sessions
- August → Fall respite sessions
- December → Winter respite sessions
We recommend starting the process a few months before registration opens. A member of our team will guide you through each step.

Submitting a New Application

Once received, our team will open your file and schedule the needs-assessment meeting with the Assistant Director of Specialized Programs.
This meeting is essential to ensuring a successful stay. It allows you and your child to visit our facilities and ask any questions about camp and respite operations.
Important delay: The current wait time for the assessment appointment is approximately 5 to 6 weeks. We strongly encourage you to complete the documentation step quickly to avoid missing your preferred session period.
Once the needs-assessment meeting is completed and the personalized support ratio is determined, your file will be ready. Your email will be added to our distribution list so you receive the session calendars as soon as they open. Spots fill up quickly, so registering early is important.
