Fatima: A Dynamic and Skill-Building Environment

Working at Fatima’s day camp and overnight camp is an exceptional and rewarding adventure. It is not just a summer job, but an immersion in an environment where learning, fun, and personal development come together every day.

A Team of Passionate Professionals

At the heart of Fatima’s camp programs is a team of three experts: Guillaume Roberge, Assistant Executive Director; Philippe Dupré-Deslandes, Director of Programs; and Marika Rhéaume, Coordinator of Specialized Programs. They work year-round to refine the programs offered to campers and to provide high-quality training to seasonal staff. It is not only about passing on professional skills, but also about helping young people grow in a supportive and educational environment.

“This will be my 24th summer working at day camp. Philippe will be completing his 15th summer, and Marika her 14th. Camps are our passion, but above all, we have professional expertise in special education, facilitation, and leadership that is recognized in our field. In fact, we received the Coup de chapeau Award from the Association des camps du Québec in 2022 for our staff supervision program,” explains Guillaume Roberge.

New recruits benefit from guidance that combines theory and practice. Each spring, two training weekends are organized to prepare employees for the summer season. Participants leave this experience with concrete, hands-on skills. Support continues throughout the employee’s journey at Fatima, allowing them to grow and refine their abilities in group management, facilitation, and leadership.

An Active, Joyful, Outdoor Workplace

One of Fatima’s greatest strengths is its environment. Imagine spending your workdays outdoors, surrounded by generous nature, while immersed in an energetic and playful atmosphere. Every day becomes a new opportunity to enjoy the benefits of an exceptional work setting.

“Here, working goes hand in hand with having fun. Employees actively take part in the various activities offered to campers, such as climbing, swimming, canoeing, the adventure trail, and even the brand-new giant foosball table!” says Philippe Dupré-Deslandes. These sports and outdoor activities allow employees to stay active while building connections with campers and colleagues.

The team of approximately 80 student employees works in a dynamic and friendly environment. A strong sense of camaraderie drives the team spirit and turns each day into a collective adventure. Shared laughter and collaborative projects create a warm and stimulating atmosphere where everyone feels valued and motivated to give their best.

A Truly Educational Job

Working at a day camp is not only a fun experience—it is also a true school of life. For those pursuing studies in fields such as education, teaching, or special education, working at Fatima offers real immersion in a professional setting.

“Employees are required to manage real-life situations, facilitate groups, and face daily challenges. These practical, hands-on skills are valuable assets that will strengthen their future academic and professional paths,” emphasizes Marika Rhéaume.

Even for those without specific career aspirations in these fields, working at a day camp can be a revelation. Many young people discover sides of themselves they never suspected: the ability to manage crisis situations, demonstrate leadership, or work effectively as part of a team. Moreover, the experience allows them to see themselves from a new perspective, explore hidden talents, and broaden their horizons. This awareness can open new possibilities and help guide future career choices.
